These sweet grannies who we believe are sisters had an owner reportedly could not wait for them to die. He went camping and left them alone. They were terribly matted and were shaved at the pound. Their vision is poor and their hearing is not great, but they are the gentlest sweetest dogs. They are very appreciative of some care and are easy to handle. Our vets feel that they are a few years older than what is on the microchip. Their mouths were very sore. Betty had 5 teeth removed and Sally had 11 removed. They really enjoy soft mushy chicken with broth. They had ear infections which are now cleared. Betty is a bit protective of her food, so is best fed away from Sally. We have found Sally had a bit more going on medically. Her kidney values are just above normal range and we have started her on renal food to settle this down. We have also started Sally on heart medication. X rays showed her heart is still in the normal size range, however it will help with the kidney disease. Our vets also removed a lump on her bottom which was a low-grade mast cell tumour. It has been removed successfully with no vascular invasion in surrounding tissue. So, poor Sally has gone through a lot and now needs time to heal and relax with Betty. They both are on antinol for joint mobility. They enjoy gentle exercise. They have low-shedding coats and Betty weighs 5kg and Sally 4.4kg.
