Buy a Hug
$5 a hug
The dogs at Doggie Rescue have often had a hard start to life or a hard time in the months or years up to the time they come to us. A simple Hug goes a long way to helping the dogs regain trust in people and feel loved again. Every hug you buy will go to a dog who needs it and the money will help us to keep them safe until we find them a new home.
Felix (pictured right) is a five years old Maltese who arrived terrified of everyone. If he were picked up his little muscles would just harden like steel. Over time he has gradually started to come out of his shell and is starting to want to be hugged by people who have gained his trust. Happily Felix has now been adopted and is receiving the love and affection he deserves and needs.

Safe and Sound
$10 will keep me safe for another day
The dogs rescued by Doggie Rescue are housed either in Foster homes or our own kennels at Doggiewood, Ingleside. The ongoing costs of keeping all our doggies safe, comfortable and secure amounts to around $10 a day per dog. Buying a “Safe and Sound” gift will help us to carry on looking after the dogs until their new forever home is found.
Johno (pictured left) is probably a pure bred Shihtzu. He was in appalling condition when he came from the pound, under weight, totally matted, with urine scalding on his stomach and full of fleas. Johno was terribly wary of people he did not know and took some time to trust them. Johno had to be clipped under sedation, as he hated clippers near him. With lots of gentle reassurance and a lots of patience he gradually was able to extend his comfort zone. Finally, after four years with Doggie Rescue, we are delighted to say that Johno has now been adopted and is thriving in his new home.

Eating Well
$20 to feed me for two weeks
Our volunteers look after many of our dogs that are not lucky enough to be in Foster care. Feeding them costs around $20 every two weeks. You can help us feed a dog by buying this gift. Our dogs are fed on a diet suited to their specific needs to keep them healthy and not hungry. Puppies in particular need the right food to give them a good start and to avoid ill health later.
Ernie (pictured right) is a gentle, somewhat shy Poodle cross. He came to Doggie Rescue terribly underweight at only 4.6kg. We do not know for sure how he came to be so malnourished, but he is gradually gaining weight on a carefully controlled diet. Ernie's has now been adopted and will never go hungry again.

Healthy and Happy
$40 for a health check
All dogs that arrive at Doggie Rescue are given a check-up by a vet. Our vet kindly offers us substantial discounts, but we still have an amount to pay. If any further medical attention is required we do not deny this to the dog based on cost. Some dogs arrive in such poor condition that they require extensive veterinary care. Your gift of a "Happy and Healthy" health check will pay for the next dog to get a full vet check-up so that any further care can be identified straight away.
Echo (pictured left) is an eight-year-old English Foxy who has had a hard life. He came from the pound with an old injury, a fractured hip that had been left untreated and had healed badly. The operation to correct this and allow him to walk properly, although given at around half the usual cost, was over $1000. Echo recovered well from his operation and has now been adopted into a loving forever home.
